Abstract (EN)

In industry, additives that is used with polymeric materials give the desired physical and chemical properties to the plastic materials. With the development of modern and fast extruders, it is possible to produce polyvinyl chloride (PVC) products at high temperatures. In many applications, thermal stability of PVC should be improved in order to have a long lifetime. Because of boron's thermal stability increasing effect, boron waste sludge is added as an additive. With the formation of conjugated double bonds in the heat treatment process, HCl separates from PVC and PVC degrades. Radical reactions that reach the formation of peroxide in the oxygen environment, chain ruptures caused by shear forces appear. The HCl gas that comes off causes corrosion and contaminates the product. Color change is observed with harmful substances and the change of the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of the resin. In this study, the effect of p-PVC films' heat stabilization during thermal degradation, provided thermally stable effect, plasticizer effect and also boron amount effects were studied. First of all, p-PVC plastisols were obtained from the formulation specified in the method. Plastic films were obtained by ensuring that these films were geled in the oven at 160°C. Heat treatments up to 300 minutes were applied to plastic films at 100, 150 and 200°C. The design expert, statistical program was used to determine the values of the parameters that make the diffusion coefficient of the plasticizer minimum. In order to determine the degradation kinetics of P-PVC films, the thermal degradation mechanisms of the films were determined by polyene ultraviolet (UV) spectrophotometer. The migration of the plasticizer from p-PVC was determined by thermal degradation studies and the diffusion coefficient was calculated.
