Examination of the relationship between screen addiction and social skills of children during the pandemic period

The aim of this study is that children aged 4-11 during the pandemic period; the aim of this study is to examine the effects of gender, age, school type, number of siblings, parental education status, living place, internet access status, Covid-19 status on screen addiction and social skills. In addition to these, correlation between screen addiction and social skills was examined. Sample of the study is formed by 408 childrens (201 female, 207 male) through convenience sampling. The mean age of the sample was 7.73. Personal Information Form, Problematic Media Use Scale and Social Skills Rating Scale were used as data collection tool. As the results of analysis, it is found out that male children's tendecy to screen addiction is higher than those female ones. Female children's tendecy to social skills is higher than those male ones. It is also found out that there is negatif significant correlation between screen addiction and social skills.
