Investigation of burnout and some variables as predictors of nurses job satisfaction in the post pandemic period

Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate the job satisfaction and burnout status of nurses working in the Public Hospital in Giresun according to socio-demographic characteristics and various scales (Maslach burnout scale and nursing job satisfaction scale) and to investigate whether there is a significant relationship between them. Materials and Methods: The sample of the research consists of 234 nurses working at Giresun state hospital and training and research hospital between January and April 2022. Data were collected using the "Descriptive Information Form", "Nurse Job Satisfaction Scale" and "Maslach Burnout Scale". The data were analyzed with the SPSS for Windows 22 package program. In the statistical evaluation of the data; t test, analysis of variance, pearson correlation and regression analysis were used in independent groups. Results: The mean age of the participants was 33.12±9.19, of which 83.8% were women, 51.3% were single, and 74.8% had a bachelor's degree. While the nurses' mean nurse job satisfaction scale total score was 3.36±0.67, the Maslach Burnout Scale mean score was 71.47±9.93. The difference in the total mean score of the Nurse Job Satisfaction Scale of those who did not have any changes in the unit they worked in due to the pandemic and who did not experience insomnia, sweating, fatigue, stigma, anxiety and hopelessness problems was statistically significant (p<0.05). The difference in the total mean score of the Maslach Burnout Scale of those who had a change in the unit they worked in due to the pandemic and those who had problems with stigma, anxiety and hopelessness was statistically significant (p<0.05). Conclusion: The job satisfaction and burnout levels of the nurses participating in the study were found to be at moderate levels. Keywords: Pandemic; Covid-19, Nurse, Job satisfaction, Burnout,
