Abstract (EN)

Paracetamol is an analgesic and antipyretic agent which is commonly used all over the world in both pediatric and adult age groups. Parallel to its prevalence of usage, toxic ingestions are not rare, and this can be a cause of morbidity and mortality due to hepatic and renal injury. In our study, we wanted to create an experimental paracetamol intoxication and compare N- acetyl cysteine which has a proven effectivity in treatment of paracetamol intoxications and used worldwide as standard treatment algorhytm, and an agent which is not used currently as an antidote for paracetamol intoxications, Amiphostine known for reducing the side effects of chemotherapeutic agents as well as radiotherapy According to data obtained in our study, combination therapy of Amiphostine and N- acetyl cysteine is proven superior to standard N-acetyl cysteine. In our opinion, combination therapy of Amiphostine and N-acetyl cysteine can be used as more effective therapy model in paracetamol intoxications in the future, although further studies needed.
