Abstract (EN)

Reconstruction of bone losses caused by various causes in the oral and maxillofacial region is important. Parathyroid hormone (PTH) is an important regulator of bone metabolism and calcium and potassium balance. Although intermittent recombinant human parathyroid hormone (rhPTH) administration has been shown to be a promising bone healing by the literatures, various animal studies and clinical trials have addressed the treatment of osteoporosis and fracture healing with the intermittent administration of rhPTH, whereas few studies have investigated the effects of rhPTH on graft healing and bone healing with biochemical markers. It has been reported that local application of Simvastatin promotes the osteoblastic activity and inhibits osteoclastic activity. No research can be found on comparing interrelation between rhPTH and simvastatin. In this study, our aim is to research on the short and long term effects of rhPTH on bone healing, bone graft healing and interrelation with local simvastatin application by histological, histomorphometric and biochemical study. As a result, it was determined that intermittent parathormone application had a positive effect on bone formation without any metabolic side effects. It was concluded that bone healing was significantly better in rhPTH-treated groups than in non-rhPTH-treated groups. It has been observed that local simvastatin application negatively affects bone healing. Key Words: Parathormone, Bone Healing, Simvastatin, Bone Graft, New Zealand Rabbit
