Determination of attitude and behaviors of farmers concerning pesticide used in some product of Pasinler district

This study aims to determine factors that they have an effect on yield and the problems that farmers encounter in terms of plant protection and the factors that farmers' pesticide use in sugar beet, potato, confectionery sunflower, and corn silage production. About 327 farmers from 14 villages of Pasinler County of Erzurum Province, where these products are intensively cultivated, were involved in a survey. The survey data were based on production year 2015. The plant production problems that farmers encountered during the production of these plants and the most effective methods for resolving these problems were identified according to the results of the study. In addition, the effects of demographic, social, and economic variables which influenced the pesticide use in farms were determined. Regarding the productivity in farming facilities in Pasinler County, it was found that while variables such as income, support, and the amount of pesticide increased efficiency, it decreased as the entrepreneurship problems of the facility escalated. It is necessary to increase the use of input to enhance the efficiency in farming facilities; however, environmental awareness should also be taken into consideration while boosting the level of this input.
