Abstract (EN)
Fe-Al intermetallics materials are unique class of materials having characteristics of both metals and ceramics. The high temperature strength and their superior oxidation resistance make intermetallic materials excellent candidates for the use in high temperature component design, however, the use of intermetalics as an engineering materials are still limited because of difficult production and bad weldability of these materials. In this study, Fe26Al, Fe30Al, Fe33Al and Fe50Al intermetallics were produced by arc melting method and these intermetallics were joined to stainless steel, aluminium and copper coated steel stud by using stud welding technique with different stud welding voltage. XRD and microhardness of Fe-Al intermetallics have been analysed and stud welding weldability of samples were indicated examining microstructure of welding zone. Also, mechanical testing of welding was performed and it is found that better welding quality materials are between the Fe26Al and stainless steel studs with 170V welding voltage.
