Abstract (EN)
In this study, the pressure drop in a commercial flexible corrugated metal pipe is numerically investigated. The flow is turbulent, steady and incompressible. The momentum and continuity equations describing the flow field are derived and the k-epsilon approximation is used as the turbulence model. The numerical solution process is carried out by means of a software program using the finite volume technique. The process is checked for straight pipes of the same dimensions and compared with some pressure drop formulas in the literature for the corrugated case. The results were found to be within the error tolerances of the formulas in previous studies and it was stated that the pressure increase for the equivalent straight pipe was about 7 times.
