Cognitive flexibility and self efficacy levels of pedagogical formation program students

Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study is proving if there is any significant difference between teachers candidates cognitive flexibility level and their self-efficacy by considering opinions of teachers' candidates continuing Abant İzzet Baysal University Pedagogical Formation Certificate Program in 2015-2016 academic year. The scope of this study is both male and female students participating in Abant İzzet Baysal University Pedagogical Formation Certificate Program in 2015-2016 academic year. 669 teachers' candidates who are good enough to represent the scope of study are elected by sampling method. First part is the one being made in an effort to collect the personal data from participants. In second part Cognitive Flexibility Scale is used whereas in third part Teacher Self-Efficacy Scale is used. In this study screening method is followed. Means of collecting data includes three sections. In first section, personal data form is used to get teachers' required personal data. In second section, Cognitive Flexibility Scale method which was developed by Bilgin (2009) is used to evaluate candidates cognitive flexibility level while in third section both Teacher's Sense of Efficacy Scale-TSES being developed by Tschannen-Moran and Hoy (2001) and Teacher Self-Efficacy Scale being adapted by Çapa, Çakıroğlu and Sarıkaya (2005) to evaluate their self-efficacy scale. The data of study is analysed with SPSS software. Additionally, percentage, frequency, average, standard devision, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Walles analysis and Sperman rho corelation analysis are used in this study. As a result of research ıt's obviously seen that both teacher's candidates cognitive flexibility and their Self-Efficacy are in high level along with total score. It's found that there is a statistical intermediate connection in a positive way between their opinions about cognitive flexibility and self-efficacy.
