Özet (EN)
235 eyes of 235 patients who applied to Gazi University School of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology for ocular trauma were reviewed. Patients were followed for at least 6 months between January 2000 ? June 2010. Mean follow up time was 18.2 months. Average age was 9 years. Boys (74.9 %) were mostly effected from trauma and the trauma was mostly seen between ages 6 and 11 (43.4 %). Trauma was occcured mostly at home (48.7 %). Open globe injury was the most injury type (76.4 %) and penetrating injury (78.5 %) was the most open glob injury type. Anatomic and visual success were significantly lower at open globe injuries (visual: 39.7 % vs 69.8 % and anatomic 76.9 % vs 92.5 %). At open globe injury, poor visual prognostic factors were rupture, low initial visual acuity, vitreous hemorrhage, retinal detachment, PVR and endophthalmitis. Anatomic success were low in patients with rupture, retinal detachment and PVR. At closed globe injury anatomic and visual success were low in patients with retinal detachment and PVR. Visual prognosis were significantly better at anterior segment injuries (0.1 and better final visual acuity: 86.7 % vs 32 %). Lenticular problem was the single poor prognostic factor at anterior segment injuries. Small age, low initial visual acuity, retinal detachment and PVR were the poor prognostic factors at posterior segment injuries.Despite high anatomic success with improved surgical procedures, visual prognosis is poor when open globe injuries, posterior segment injuries, low initial visual acuity, retinal detachment, PVR and endophthalmitis are found.
