A study on performance evaluation criteria: The example of private education course teachers

In this study, the issue of performance evaluation is discussed in the context of the education and training sector, and especially the criteria and performance evaluation indicators used in the performance evaluation process are ranked in order of importance in terms of increasing the productivity of teachers in the relevant field. In addition, the relationships between performance evaluation criteria and teachers' sociodemographic data were also analyzed. The population of the research consists of 2500 teachers working in special education courses in Bursa. A Teacher Performance Evaluation Scale consisting of 50 performance evaluation indicators representing 10 performance evaluation criteria was applied to 415 participants using the simple random sampling method from this population. In the study, performance evaluation indicators are listed in two different ways, both in the context of the criteria they represent and independently of them. As a result of the analysis, it is noteworthy that the performance evaluation indicators that take the first three places in both rankings are indicators that are not directly related to education and training activities. Additionally, in various correlation analyses, positive relationships were found between the level of influence from performance evaluation criteria and participants' characteristics such as age and professional seniority. On the other hand, according to the independent sample t-test analysis, it was determined that the level of impact of performance evaluation criteria on teachers' performances did not differ significantly according to the gender of the teachers.
