Abstract (EN)

The first examples of performance art shown around the world date back to the 1900s. He is associated with the Futurists and Surrealists through the Dada movement. In general, since the 1960s, 'performance art" has become unorthodox and has captured a new avant-garde language. The political, economic and agenda-related problems experienced by the society have been the main factors that have made the formation of performance art strong. They rejected the rules and norms imposed by traditional understanding. As a new understanding of art that accommodates an interdisciplinary, decimated audience, they have expanded the boundaries of art. By using their own bodies in their performances, they have dec decoupled the effective relationship between the sender and the receiver in the communication process between the artist and the audience at the center. Various factors in performances, experimental, improvisation, play and life, body, violence, blood-pain, sound, space, identity are felt in the performance from the beginning to the end. Performance artists who argue that these factors are basic concepts that can be felt everywhere have shaped their art with this basic idea. Performance art and artists have conveyed their inner world, their feelings and thoughts that they can freely express everywhere, that art is not just works that will be exhibited in stylish museums and galleries to be art, to the audience in a striking language. The body in performance art, Marina and the audience also actively uses the space referring to the relationship between art and her life is explained. By transforming his own body into a work, the artist has revealed the limits of his performance by providing an active role with the audience. In this thesis, it is explained how performance art emerged and underwent a process, and in this process, different areas of art were touched upon at different stages of development.
