Evaluation of peri-implantitis risk and genetic polymorphisms

Abstract (EN)
The present study was investigated that the effects of single nucleotid polymorphisms(SNPs) in NRAMP-1, MCP-1, IL-10 and CD14 molecules which play an important role in the pathogenesis of peri-implantitis and periodontitis. Our study included a total of 98 individuals (33 peri-implantitis, 32 periodontitis and 33 healthy individuals). DNA was extracted from saliva samples. Single gene polymorphisms were determined according to reference melting curves using real-time PCR method. Statistical analysis data were obtained by performing Chi-square test in SPSS software. When the allele distribution and genotype structure of the NRAMP-1 (rs17235409) gene in peri-implantitis, periodontitis and healthy individuals were examined, the A allele was higher in the peri-implantitis group. G allele was higher in the healthy group. AG genotype in CD14(rs2569190) is higher in healthy individuals compared to peri-implantitis and periodontitis groups, AA and GG homozygous conditions were found more in peri-implantitis and periodontitis groups. AG genotype was observed in 42.4% of individuals with peri-implantitis, 46.9% of individuals with periodontitis and 78.8% of healthy individuals. No statistically significant relationship was found between SNPs in IL-10(rs1080872) and MCP-1 (rs1024611) and the diseases. This is the first study investigating NRAMP-1, MCP-1, IL-10 and CD14 on individuals with peri-implantitis and periodontitis in the Turkish population. Our results showed that SNPs in NRAMP-1 gene is important biomarkers for peri-implantitis. Studies in different populations and larger sample groups are needed to reveal the determinant effect of SNPs in MCP-1, IL-10 and CD14 genes in peri-implantitis and periodontitis.
