Abstract (EN)
Aim: The aim is to evaluate patients who underwent implant surgery at the periodontology clinic in terms of demographic, clinical, and radiological aspects regarding peri-implantitis, and to investigate the factors leading to peri-implantitis in order to prevent implant losses. Materials and Methods: Patients who underwent implant surgery at the periodontology clinic were evaluated in terms of gender, age, systemic condition, smoking status, oral hygiene, number of implants applied, duration of implant function, region of implant application, opposing tooth, plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), and probing pocket depth data, and measurements of attached gingival width and gingival thickness were obtained, while the amount of bone loss was measured on orthopantomographs. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods. Results: In the study conducted on a total of 199 patients (111 male and 88 female) and 968 implants, a significant relationship was found between age, systemic condition, smoking, oral hygiene, duration of implant function, and gingival thickness with peri-implant diseases (p<0.05). The average age of the patients is 56.06 ± 9.45. Conclusion: Oral hygiene maintenance is important for peri-implant health. The systemic condition of patients and smoking are risk factors for peri-implant diseases. In patients with thin gingival thickness, the risk of developing peri-implant diseases is higher.
