Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted methodologically in order to adapt the Perioperative Comfort Scale, originally developed in Portugal and English, to Turkish and to conduct validity and reliability studies. The survey consists of 3 sub-dimensions and 15 items. In order to adapt the survey from English to Turkish, translation and back translations were completed and language validity was ensured. Opinions were received from 8 experts for the expert panel, and the content validity index was calculated as 0.96. The sample of the study consisted of 194 patients who underwent surgery at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Hospital. In order to examine the construct validity of the survey, explanatory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were applied in the survey. The Kaiser-Meyer Olkin value was found to be sufficient (0.882) and the Bartlett Sphericity Test (p<0.001) was found to be significant. According to the explanatory factor analysis performed using Principal Component Analysis and Varimax rotation methods, it was concluded that all factor loadings were greater than 0.3. The total explained variance value was found to be 56.70%. According to the confirmatory factor analysis results, the fit indices were found to be sufficient. Cronbach alpha (α) values were calculated as 0.847 for the scale and between 0.924 and 0.444 for the sub-dimensions, and Cronbach alpha (α) values were found to be reliable for all sub-dimensions. Parallel test results were found to be at a moderate level (r=0, 0.681) with the Perianesthesia Comfort Scale and at a high level (r=-0.945) with the Digital Visual Analog Anxiety Scale (p<0.001). No item was removed from the questionnaire as a result of the final analysis. As a result, this study revealed that the Perioperative Comfort Scale is a valid and reliable tool that can be used in the context of health services in Turkey.
