Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, it is targeted to investigate the usability of granular aerogel in perlite-based lightweight concretes. In line with this goal, the production of low density, thermally improved lightweight concrete was aimed. In the study, firstly, Reference (REF) sample was produced for comparison of the additive samples. Then, lightweight concrete samples were produced by substituting granular aerogel in certain ratios (2%, 4%, 6%, 8% and 10%). To determine the physical properties of the samples, density, porosity, compactness, water absorption (by weight), the effect of freezing and thawing on compressive strength and thermal conductivity coefficient determination tests were applied. To determine the mechanical properties, compressive strength and splitting tensile strength tests were applied. In addition, SEM analysis was performed to examine the microstructure of the samples. As a result of the study, lightweight concrete samples with low density, high porosity and low thermal conductivity were obtained. It was determined that HB2, HB4, HB6 and HB8 samples were in the medium strength lightweight concrete class, and HB10 sample was in the low strength lightweight concrete class. Key Words: Granular aerogel, Perlite, Lightweight concrete, Physical property, Mechanical property
