Abstract (EN)
Brick is a building material that has survived for generations and is widely used in the construction industry. This vital material has continuously been renewed with the advancement of technology. This renewal was achieved with both organic and industrial waste. This thesis aimed to produce a lightweight wall element with physical and mechanical properties superior to standard brick, improved thermal conductivity, and reduced dry unit weight. To achieve this aim, perlite was used as raw material in brick production, tincal waste and granular aerogel substitutes (0:30%, 5:25%, 10:20%, 15:15%, 20:10%, 25:5%; 30:0% by volume). Physical and mechanical tests were applied to the produced samples. SEM images were also taken to examine their microstructures. The study resulted in improved thermal properties and a lighter brick compared to standard bricks. It was concluded that the bricks produced could be used in both structural and decorative applications. By utilizing waste and our natural resources in brick production, both environmental damage will be reduced and a sustainable building material will be produced.
