Abstract (EN)
Application of nano-sized photocatalysts in powder form causes some disadvantages, such as agglomeration and difficulty in separating them from the environment in large-scale processes. In this thesis study, commercial polystyrene based resin was presented as a new carrier material for supporting catalyst particles. Perovskite LaFeO 3 particles are coated in different proportions on Diaion TM HP21 Resin by hydrothermal method. Photocatalytic, Fenton and photo-Fenton catalytic activities of this heterostructured catalyst towards tetracycline antibiotic were studied under visible light irradiation. Solution pH and effect of different water environments on catalytic activity were investigated and the intermediates of tetracycline were analyzed. In addition, the mechanism of catalytic degradation was studied by reactive radical pollutant tests; the stability of the catalyst was studied by recycle experiments. In addition to tetracycline molecule, photo-Fenton catalytic performances of heterostructured catalyst towards different dye and antibiotic components were studied. According to the results obtained; as the amount of perovskite coated on the resin surface increased, the photo-Fenton activity increased significantly. In pH effect experiments, maximum degradation efficiency between pH 3.5−5.7 was observed in which electrostatic attraction forces were effective between tetracycline molecule and positively charged catalyst surface. In the results of radical ion effect experiments, it was determined that electrons and holes were the dominant species in catalytic activity. With this thesis, the successful availability of polymeric resins was presented in the field of photocatalysis.
