Abstract (EN)

In the 17th and 18th centuries, the Enlightenment ideas that began to develop in Europe led to a radical change in human life. This process of change, which has its origins in ancient times and continues to the present day, permeates all other arts as it affects all areas of life. In this study, the effects of Enlightenment ideas on violin playing are examined with the example of the famous violinist and pedagogue Pierre Baillot's L'Art du Violon method. In the first part, the Enlightenment is defined and analyzed with its historical origins and basic characteristics. At the same time, Baillot's life is discussed together with its relationship with the Enlightenment era. In the second part, the establishment process of the Paris Conservatory founded during the Enlightenment period, the French Violin School and some violin methods written before L'Art du Violon were examined. Thus, the formation process of the L'Art du Violon method and the important factors in this process were understood in detail. In the last chapter, the L'Art du Violon method was analyzed in detail and it was seen which aspects of the Enlightenment ideas influenced violin playing.
