Abstract (EN)
A sustainable or green building is a building that attempts to eliminate the increasingly negative impacts on the built environment. Focusing on the interior environment in green building design reduces the opportunity for exterior sustainability of the building. Therefore, the strength of the vegetation effect, location and the site of the building must be taken into consideration, which is expressed in this study by the principles of landscaping because it provides natural ways to reduce the negative impacts of the built environment. Seven landscape principles have been identified as essential to maintaining urban and healthy environments: water quality and management, microclimate regulation, cultural services, noise reduction, development intensity, gait, and transit also seven quantitative parameters were identified to measure the landscape principles inorder to assess if those green buildings which are certified by international rating systems , meet these characteristics or not, two LEED certified buildings in turkey were evaluated as green buildings. The results show that landscape principles were not considered as an important aspect of green building design furtheremore it was found that most of the requirements that were implemented focus mainly on meeting the specification for obtaining LEED certification, the study also found that the concentration was on some requirements more than others. The study emphasized the necessity of integrating natural systems with man-made systems and encouraging comprehensive and integrated design processes in green buildings.
