Abstract (EN)
This thesis analyses Luce Irigaray's methods and demonstrates how they shape her philosophy. So, this thesis has subjected many of Irigaray's works to detailed analysis concerning her methods. Concerning this analysis, this thesis argues that Irigaray uses four methods and that her other methods derive from these four. The second chapter of this thesis offers an overview of Luce Irigaray's academic background. In the third chapter, Irigaray's "a different type of dialectic" and its differences from Hegel's are analyzed. During these analyses, it is seen that Irigaray's dialectic is one in which the difference between the two terminals always persists. In the fourth chapter, Irigaray's method of "mimicry" is analyzed, and it is argued that Irigaray uses this method to change the patriarchal discourse that always positions the subject as masculine. In the fifth chapter, Irigaray's linguistic and psychoanalytic works are analyzed together due to the close relationship between psychoanalysis and linguistics. It is remarked that Irigaray uses the methods of psychoanalysis to reveal the masculine senses in the products of Western Culture. It was explained that Irigaray's linguistic studies were carried out to enable women to re-express themselves. In the sixth chapter, it is stated that the concept of "sexual difference" is one of the key elements of Irigaray's method of "strategic essentialism," which is a collaboration between "mimicry" and "a different kind of dialectic." In the seventh chapter, the position of Irigaray's four basic methods in feminist methodology through the general characteristics of feminist philosophy is addressed.
