Özet (EN)
Ayaz, M. (2019). Pharmacopoeia Analysis of Some Coriandri Fructus Drogs Those Are Sold in The Market. Yeditepe University, Institute of Health Science, Turkey, MSc thesis, İstanbul. Coriandrum sativum L., has been used as an anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, diuretic and carminative agent in society since ancient times and it is used for the treatment of digestive and respiratory diseases. Several bioactivity studies were performed on the extracts prepared from the leaves, fruits and seeds of C. sativum. The experiments showed the antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of essential oils and anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antidiabetic and hypolipidemic effects of the extracts. Phytochemical studies showed the presence of components such as essential oil, fixed oil, flavonoids and phenolic acids in the plant. The main component of essential oil is 'linalool'. In this study, botanical and phytochemical properties, usages and bioactivity of C. sativum studies are given in details. The commercially avaliable samples in the market were investigated for their compliance with European Pharmacopoeia 7.0 monograph. For this reason, macroscopic and microscopic examinations, foreign matter and total ash determination, loss on drying, TLC (Thin Layer Chromotagraphy) and volatile oil tests were performed on ten different samples and compared with the values stated in Pharmacopeia. According to the findings obtained in this study, the samples are adapted to macroscopic and microscopic examinations in all samples, and the more comprehensive method HPTLC which was used instead of TLC to analyse revealed 'linalool and triglyceride' and in the foreign matter was found to be higher than the stated value. It is observed that there was not more than 10% loss on dry experiment, there was not more than 8% ash in the total ash experiment in all samples. In the essential oil test, the amount of essential oils were found to be less than the expected values except for two samples. Therefore, not all the samples sold as 'Coriandri fructus' on the market were complied with the European Pharmacopoeia standards, and thus the expected effects may not be observed when they are used as herbal drug.
