In this study, the place and function of French songs used as a methodological tool in the teaching of foreign languages are examined. In addition to researching current pedagogical practices, the surveys conducted are analyzed in depth and aim to understand the importance and effectiveness of using songs in lessons. In line with this information, the aim is to provide teachers and researchers with new perspectives and ideas on tools and methods that can be used more effectively in foreign language learning. The first part focuses on the definition of French song, its historical panorama, the different facets of the genre as well as the various interrelated components that make it up and how they interact to create a successful song. This section will examine the effects of technological advances on the production and distribution of music, focusing on the changes that technical media have made to the way songs are created, recorded and broadcast. The second part focuses on the use of authentic documents, especially French song, as an educational tool in the teaching of French as a foreign language. As the use of French song and online materials in the FLE classroom enhances the communicative skills of learners, the fundamental principles of the communicative approach will be addressed and its importance in the teaching of foreign languages emphasized. The third part focuses on the knowledge of cultures through French song and its role in promoting the French language. It will show how teaching language variants such as verlan and regional accents can help learners to better understand the linguistic and cultural diversity of the language. The fourth part deals with the benefits of music. We will talk briefly about the effects of music on the brain and memory to show that it is a factor that facilitates learning. The fifth part presents the various methods for choosing a song, defining it and using it in class. In this way, teachers will be able to evaluate the pedagogical suitability of a song, especially in terms of words, grammar, structure, culture and pedagogical goals. Finally, we will analyze the results of surveys conducted with a group of students and teachers to assess their perception on this subject. In short, this dissertation aims to make a significant contribution in the field of FLE teaching by proposing didactic avenues for the use of French song in class.
