Abstract (EN)
This study investigates the mechanical and durability properties of asphalt mixtures modified with waste plastic bags and glass. Plastic bags, glass powder, and a hybrid combination (plastic bags + glass powder) were used for bitumen modification. Plastic bag-modified bitumen was used at a 3% ratio, glass powder-modified bitumen at a 1.5% ratio, and hybrid-modified bitumen at a combination of 1.5% nylon bags and 0.5% glass powder. The mixtures were designed using the Marshall method, and the optimum bitumen content was determined. Various mechanical and durability tests were conducted, including the Indirect Tensile Strength (ITS) test, Cantabro abrasion loss test, and water damage resistance test, to compare the performance of the modified bituminous. The asphalt mixture produced with hybrid-modified bitumen demonstrated better and more reliable results. This study highlights the significant environmental and performance benefits of incorporating waste materials into asphalt mixture.
