ABSTRACTPLATFORM INDEPENDENT DATABASE MANAGEMENTKabarcık, AhmetFunctional dependencies of attributes for normalization and the most suitableprimary key of the table must be defined to get the best design decisions for thedatabases, which have randomly inserted values.This study investigates some probabilistic models over average case complexityfor random databases formed by independent random tuples with a common discretedistribution. Mathematical values are tried to find for functional dependency. Thisstudy aims to help the designer to find the most suitable minimal key and to givean idea whether normalization is needed by detecting functional dependencies of theattributes of tables automatically.
