Abstract (EN)

Pınarbaşı, which is a district of Kastamonu province in the west of the Black Sea Region, consists of the district center and the villages connected to the district. The district center consists of a total of 6 neighborhoods and there are 27 villages in the district. Pınarbaşı became a district in 1987, has not experienced much population changes since that date. In this study, the changing population and socio-cultural development of Pınarbaşı since 1927 has been interpreted by using various data, tables, graphs and maps. The physical and human factors affecting the distribution of the population are discussed and spatial distribution of rural and urban population is emphasized. In the first census before the proclamation of the Republic, Pınarbaşı, was a village connected to Daday, when Azdavay became a district in 1946, Pınarbaşı connected to it, in 1987 Pınarbaşı became a district. According to Turkish Statistical Intitute's population census in 2018, population of Pınarbaşı is 6020. Pınarbaşı has the dependent elderly population over the Turkey average. Migration to the big cities still continues and this situation causes reduction of the young population and increase the elderly population in the total population. in this study solution suggestions are submitted to the problems that occur according to quantitive changes on population and estimated change in population are illustrated by using population projections.
