Electrochemical determination of dobutamine by using poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) modified electrodes

In this study, it was aimed to develop a modified electrode for the electrochemical determination of dobutamine (DBT) compound, one of the important catecholamines. For this purpose, pencil graphite electrodes (PGE) were modified with overoxidized and nanofiber structured poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (OPEDOTNF) conductive polymer by the electrochemical polymerization method. The electrochemical performance of OPEDOTNF modified PGE (PGE/OPEDOTNF) against dobutamine were examined by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. The performances of non-nanofiber electrodes were also examined for comparison. Modified electrodes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and electrochemical methods. By the differential pulse voltammetry method, it was observed that the response of the modified electrodes against DBT was linear concentration range of 0,1 µM – 4,0 µM. Limit of detection limit is calculated as 0,026 µM. Limit of quantification is calculated as 0,086 µM. The effect of the interfering species was determined. The data obtained as a result of the study, it was found that sensitive and selective dobutamine determination can be made by using pencil graphite electrodes modified with nanofiber structured poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene).
