Özet (EN)
Introduction:Bilirubin is the end product of Hem metabolism and has antioxidant properties However, there is not enough information about the role of the pathophysiology in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). The aim of our study is that investigate together the bilirubin levels with heart rate recovery index (I HR) in patients with diagnosed PCO disease. Materials and Methods:In this prospective study, 34 patients who admitted to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department and diagnosed PCO disease were included. 27 young healthy female adultswere includedas a control group. Blood samples were obtained after 12 hours fasting to determine the Bilirubin, assessment- homeostasis model of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and other blood parameters from patients in both groups. Transthoracic echocardiography and Exercise stress test, which is according to the Bruce protocol, were performed in all healthy individuals. Body mass index (BMI), waist circumference, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and exercise test parameters were recorded at all of the subjects. Results:Total bilirubin levels were significantly lower in patients with diagnosed PCO disease (0.45 ± 0.08 mg / dl vs. 0:38 ± 0.08 mg / dl, p = o.oo1). HOMA-IR levels were higher in the PCO group (2 ± 0.5 vs. 2.9 ± 0.9, p = o.oo1). HR was determined lower in patients with diagnosed PCO disease (27,8 ± 11,2 vs. 34,2 ± 10.8, p=o.o2). According to Pearson's correlation test, which was done in PCO diagnosed patients, significant correlation was observed between HRTI with HOMA-IR and bilirubin levels. Result:Significant relationship was determined between bilirubin levels and impaired HRTI in patients with diagnosed PCO disease. Decreased bilirubin levels may lead to deterioration at the HRTI by increasing oxidative stress in these patients. When planning the treatment of patients with PCO disease, these findings should be considered. Key words: bilirubin, heart rate recovery index, and polycystic ovary syndrome
