Abstract (EN)

Terpyridine compounds have a very important place in supramolecular chemistry in terms of high metal coordination affinity. They are widely used especially in the production of metalosupramolecular compounds, in the production of self-healing structures and in optoelectronic applications. Today, different terpyridine compounds are structurally synthesized and used in different applications. In particular, the synthesis of smart materials whose physical properties change under the influence of different external stimuli is important in this field. Heat, light, pH, different chemical effects or pressure changes are widely used in smart materials as external stimuli. However, electrical effects and chemical stimuli generally change the supramolecular structure in terpyridine complexes. Especially with the use of these electrical voltage changes, smart polymeric structures have been prepared to reveal different colors and properties. Another important application area of terpyridine-based metal coordination structures in modern technology is catalytic reactions. Especially terpyridine Ru, Rh and Pd coordination compounds are used as active catalysts in many organic reactions. However, studies on polymer supported catalytic structures are very limited in the literature. Within the scope of this study, Pd coordination compounds of terpyridine units on the polymeric structure will be prepared and the catalytic activities of these prepared structures will be determined. In this study, polymeric structures containing pendant terpyridine groups were prepared. Pd ion was coordinated to these prepared structures and purified. The obtained structures were characterized by techniques such as FTIR, and NMR. The efficiency of the obtained structures on metal ions was determined by UV spectroscopy. The efficiency of polymer supported terpyridine Pd complexes, for which necessary characterizations were made, in catalytic reactions such as Suzuki and Heck were determined. Within the scope of the thesis, the studies were carried out in five steps. They carry terpyridine units; synthesis of linear polymers, synthesis of copolymers, synthesis of cross-linked polymers, synthesis of hybrid materials and coordination of functional polymeric structures of this terpyridine with Pd were successfully carried out.
