Sputnik as Post-Soviet Russia's instrument of hegemony

When it comes to the Soviet Union, it is the whole out of countries that were the world's supreme non-capitalist alternative until the nineties come to mind. Soviet Union during its active period, in addition to being the biggest fear of capitalism, communism was introduced to society as the greatest threat by the capitalist world order. When Soviets are mentioned worldwide, a structure comes to mind that develops good relations with other countries besides the coexistence of many countries outside of the socialist administration seeks a way to live in peace but does not leave precaution to the contrary the hegemony of capitalism. When the Soviet Union is mentioned, the meaning of the word Soviet that constitutes the union is ignored. The word Soviet means "consultative committee in the socialist order." The Russian Federation found itself in a competitive occasion while attempting to establish capitalism after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. In the constant competition occasion of capitalism, while trying to isolate itself from the socialist principles of the Soviet Union, Russian Federation has aimed to maintain the effects and relations created by the Soviet Union. This situation caused Russia, which is trying to integrate with capitalism, to act pragmatically. Russia, the largest and the founding country in the Soviet Union, tried out to establish itself as the patron of the union after the dissolution, devoid of socialist principles. Russia's assuming the role of maintaining the union while keeping up with the new order, devoid of the principles of the Soviet Union, is called the post-Soviet process. International communication has continued since the appearance of agencies until today, and it includes the economic and political relations where nations' message exchanges occur. While it's possible to provide services thanks to the means of mass communication (i.e. the media), on the other hand, those who have these means don't refrain from using the media to get what they want. Due to the private ownership in capitalism, media ownership is mostly in the hands of the private sector. States see the media as a set of tools that will both establish hegemony and serve as an ideological apparatus. Since its establishment, the Soviet Union has been in a struggle to spread and consolidate its values by actively using mass media both within the union and outside. The Russian Federation is trying to strengthen its hegemony in the capitalist world by adopting the tradition of the Soviet Union's use of the media. Today, Sputnik appears as one of the tools used by the Russian Federation to reinforce its hegemony. In this study, the subject had been examined based on the fact that Sputnik is the hegemonic tool of the Russian Federation.
