Abstract (EN)
Objective : The aim of this study was to compare the effects of clinical pilates (CP) and Whole Body Vibration (TVT) exercises in postmenopausal osteoporotic (PO) women in terms of muscle strength, flexibility, balance, bone turover markers and quality of life (QOL). Methods : The study was carried out with 32 women who were diagnosed with PO in 17 clinical pilates and 15 TVT exercise groups. Muscle strength, fingertip ground distance and lateral trunk flexion, standing on one foot and tandem stance test, 3 mt time up and go , Short Form-12 (SF-12) questionnaire, Tetrax fall index were evaluated before and after treatment. 12 weeks, two days a week in the KP group 1 hour, 30 min exercise was applied in the WBV group. Results : There was a statistically significant increase in muscle strength, CP group than WBV group after treatment (p<0.05). In the flexibility and static balance results, it was found that CP group had statistically significant improvement than WBV group (p<0.05). Dynamic balance scores, Short Form-12 quality of life questionnaire and Tetrax evaluation showed statistically improvement in CP and WBV exercise groups (p<0.05). Serum osteocalcin, deoxypyridinoline (DPD) and DPD ratio were evaluated before and after treatment and no statistically significant improvement was observed in both groups (p>0.05). Conclusion : When the effects of current CP and TVT exercises used in postmenopausal osteoporosis rehabilitation were compared, it was found that the CP group was superior to the WBV exercises group in terms of muscle strength, flexibility, balance and quality of life, and statistically significant improvement was observed in both groups in terms of tetrax fall index scores and bone turnover markers. It has been found to have similar effects. Keywords : Postmenopausal, Clinical Pilates, Whole Body Vibration, Tetrax, Osteocalcin, Deoxypyridinoline
