Abstract (EN)
Postmodernism focuses on an understanding that emerged in the second half of the 20th century and aims to criticize modernism, get beyond the limits and question the concept of reality. The movement refusing traditional art norms and adopting an approach that values different perspectives offers a new aesthetic experience with irony, parody and experimental approaches in its works of art. Conceptual art is an approach where thoughts and concepts become prominent than concrete entities. This movement tries to go beyond aesthetic evaluations by aiming to contribute to the thought processes of the viewer and argues that art can be expressed through abstract thoughts, ideas and meanings. Artists highlight abstract ideas, concepts, and thoughts in their works instead of concrete objects. In this process, painting gives up being just a visual representation tool and turns into a platform where thoughts and concepts are expressed. The signs seen on cave walls as from the Neolithic period have contributed to the evaluation of drawing as a basic form of artistic expression in contemporary art. Drawing has evolved as a style in art history rather than pre-painting. Artists have used drawing not only as an aesthetic decoration element but also to express abstract ideas, thoughts and emotions. This approach has enabled drawing to be a powerful tool for artists to express their inner world rather than just a means of visual appeal. In Murat Morova's works, traces of contemporary critical thoughts and concepts are clearly seen. By perfectly bringing together traditional philosophy and Islamic aesthetics, the artist encourages the viewer to think and question by using the expression language resulting from this combination. At the same time, his works emphasize important issues of contemporary society and convey challenges such as climate changes, environmental destruction and the refugee crisis with a strong artistic expression. While Morova's works reflect the conceptual transformation of drawing, they also take artistic expression to a conceptual dimension.
