Abstract (EN)

Introduction And Aim: For pregnant women who are expecting their first baby, readiness during pregnancy is an important factor in the successful implementation of hygienic care for their babies. This study was carried out to develop the "Scale for Readiness of Pregnant Women to Hygienic Care of the Newborn", to test its validity and reliability, and to determine the effect of the education on the hygienic care of the newborn provided in the antenatal period with the use of QR Code on this readiness. Material And Method: While the first stage of the study was carried out methodologically, and the second stage was carried out as a randomized controlled experimental study. 167 primigravida pregnant women in the first stage, and a total of 68 primigravida pregnant women consisting of 34 controls and 34 intervention groups in the second stage constituted the sample group of the study. In the scale development stage, the data were collected using the Introductory Information Form and the draft of the "Scale for Readiness of Pregnant Women to Hygienic Care of the Newborn". The pre-education Introductory Information Form and the scale developed was applied in the second stage of the study. The hygienic care education of the newborn was given to the pregnant women in the intervention group with a guide and mobile application containing QR code, and the pregnant women in the control group completed their routine education provided in the hospital. Two weeks after the completion of the education, the pregnant women in both groups were called and the scale was reapplied. The data were analyzed by transferring to IBM SPSS Statistics 23 and IBM SPSS AMOS 23 programs. Results: The fit index values of the developed scale for the confirmatory factor analysis model were found to be χ²/sd: 4.061, RMSEA: 0.136, GFI: 0.849, CFI: 0.910, SRMR: 0.0587. The Cronbach alpha coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.93 for the whole scale. The second stage of the study, while there was no statistically significant difference in pre-education intervention and control groups in terms of the mean score for the scale for readiness of pregnant women to hygienic care of the newborn (p=0.075), the mean scale score of the pregnant women in the intervention group (61.91±6.53) after the education was found to be significantly higher compared to those in the control group (56.91±7.79) (p=0.006). Conclusion: It was determined that the developed scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool. It was observed that the education of hygienic care to the newborn, which was provided to pregnant women with the use of QR Code, was effective on their readiness to care.
