Abstract (EN)
The study was conducted to determine the relationship between primiparous women's spiritual well-being levels and their perceptions of self-efficacy towards normal delivery. The sample of the descriptive and correlational study consisted of 280 primiparous pregnant women who applied to Sivas province Numune Hospital between August 24, 2023 and July 16, 2024, met the research criteria and accepted to participate in the study. The data were collected using the "Personal Information Form", "Spiritual Well-Being Scale (SWBS)" and "Self-Efficacy Scale for Normal Birth (SEVB)". One-Way Analysis of Variance (One-Way ANOVA), Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis test were used to analyze the data. The relationship between variables was evaluated with Pearson correlation test. The mean SEVB score of the pregnant women was found to be 55.74±20.55, and the mean total score of the SWBS was 124.21±13.72. A significant correlation was found between the level of education, employment status, planned pregnancy, preferred mode of delivery and the mean spiritual well-being scores of pregnant women. The preferred mode of delivery and the mean score of self-efficacy for normal delivery were found to be significantly higher. Considering that birth and motherhood are processes with a spiritual dimension for women, the connection between spirituality and birth should be addressed in antenatal trainings, and it is recommended to conduct experimental or qualitative studies involving spiritual well-being and birth self-efficacy with different sample sizes.
