Abstract (EN)

This is a descriptive type of study conducted to determine the concerns related to childbirth and the postpartum period and life quality levels of primiparous women. The sample of the study consisted of 97 primiparous women who had given birth. Personal Information Form, Oxford Birth Anxiety Scale and Postpartum Quality of Life Scale were applied to women by face-to-face interview method. For the analysis of the data, IBM SPSS Statistics 20 program was used and the reliability analysis coefficients (Cronbach Alpha) of the "the Postnatal Quality of Life" and "Oxford Birth Anxiety Scale" were calculated. The significance level was determined as (p<0.05). 36.1% of the women were between the ages of 23 and 27, 43.3% were graduates or post-graduates at a university, and the average Oxford Birth Anxiety score was 26.48±6.24. According to the variables 'State of fear of childbirth' (24.97±5.69) and 'State of health anxiety for their babies' (25.65±6.20), women's "fear of childbirth" was found to be significantly higher (p=0.000, p=0.028, respectively). The mean score of the Postnatal Quality of Life Scale of Primiparous women was found to be 22.75±3.37. Postpartum quality of life was found to be higher in primiparous women who had a 'vaginal delivery' than those who had a cesarean section (p=0.002). There was no significant relationship between Women's Anxiety about Childbirth and Postpartum Quality of Life Levels (p=0.799). Although it was not statistically significant, the women's age (p=0.071) and the presence of social security (p=0.095) were associated with the quality of life after childbirth. With the prenatal trainings and support that will be given to primiparous women, the anxiety of childbirth will be reduced and the vaginal birth rates will increase. Therefore, women's postpartum life quality will increase as well.
