Primula veris subsp. columnae chemical content of essential oil, obtaining the methanol extract and biological activities

Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to determine the essential oil ratios, and essential oil components, the production of methanol extracts and the antioxidant, antifungal and antimicrobial properties of these extracts of the Primula veris subsp. columnae species. In this study, Flower and leaf essential oils of Primula veris subsp. columnae species grown naturally in Gümüşhane province, were removed. The main components and percentage rates of essential oils were determined. The main compound in the flower essential oil was Methyl 4-methoxysilicylate (37.30%) and the main compound in the leaf essential oil was Linoleic acid (40.08%). As a result methanol extraction of flowers and leaves, the amount of extractive substance in the flower was 34.54% and e in the leaf was determined that antioxidant properties are quite high. In antimicrobial and antifungal activity tests on the extract of the Primula veris subsp. columnae species, it was found that only the essential oil of the flower showed weak inhibitory properties against Escherichia coli bacteria.
