The effects of some factors on litter size, preweaning growth traits and survival rate in pirlak sheep

The effects of different environmental factors on litter size, birth weight, average daily gain, weaning weight and survival rate in Pirlak sheep maintained at six private farm operations of Şuhut district of Afyonkarahisar in 2011 – 2012. Analyses of variance showed operation, birth type an sex had significant (P<0,05) effects on birth weight, average daily gain and weaning weight. The effects of dam's weight and age on litter size and survival rates respectively were significant (P<0,05) As a result, it was concluded that the multiple birth rate will increase in heavier ewes at the time of mating and their lambs will also develop rapidly and have higher weaning weight.
