Examining the relationship between proactive personality and political behaviors

Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study is to determine whether individuals with proactive personality exhibit political behavior due to these personality traits. For this purpose, the study is designed as four parts. In the first part of the study, literature information about proactive personality and political behaviors is given within the conceptual framework. The second part is designed as the background of the research, in this part the research problem, the research question, the research model and the research hypotheses are included. In the third section, the validity and reliability analyzes of the collected data were made, and the data were analyzed using correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. In the last section, the results are discussed and interpreted. Necessary data for the study were collected by questionnaire technique. A total of 246 people working in private and public sector businesses operating in the Marmara Region participated in the study. Participants evaluated their levels of proactive personality and political behavior using the self-report method. According to the findings, it was concluded that proactive personality negatively affects making concessions and insincerity behavior, while it does not affect exchange of favors, ingratiation, coalition building, upward appeals. However, the findings on whether proactive personality and political behaviors differ according to demographic factors show that proactive personality differs according to age, and political behaviors differ according to gender, status, position, sector, education level, age and working year.
