Abstract (EN)

The Island Cyprus was de facto separated in two parts since 1974. Though Turkish and Greek parties have met many times in order to organize the undetermined political and legal situation on the Island, they couldn?t accord. In 2005, Mehmet Ali Talat who expressed that he is for the resolution became the president of the republic in TRNC. Also, expected change from the Greek Community happened in 2008 and Demetris Christofias promising change for his future government won the elections. Given the fact that the governments of the two sides are willing to find a solution, this present period is described as the most promising of all since the beginning of this problem. Because of the fact that the most promising period until now was created with these election, the development of the Cyprus peace negotiations after the election of Christofias interested me. In my research, we have put emphasis on the problematic of consistency of Greek community on this subject. Was the Greek community consistent or were they trying to influence in their favour the international atmosphere which has started to turn against them with the referendum in 2004 by restarting the negotiations?
