Civilization concept in studies of Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin

In this study, the perception of civilization, which was created by orientalists in the West, and then spread almost all over the world with the power of the media, is questioned based on the works and discoveries of Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin. Since our study is based on the works of Fuat Sezgin, the perceptions of Western Civilization and Islamic Civilization are discussed in particular. The perception of Islamic Civilization, which reached its peak in the West in the 19th century, and the historical origins of the perception of Western Civilization, which was positioned directly oppose İslamic Civilization, are examined in depth, and then, in the light of the new data presented in Sezgin's works, it was revealed that this perceptions did not reflect reality and that what actually happened would create a very different perception of civilization.
