Özet (EN)

Benign prostate hyperplasia (BHP) is the most common disease which is diagnosed and can be cured and it is existing in the %60 of the men among the 60 years-old. It can be only possible to cure the prostate cancer with early diagnosis. For this reason, it has been studied whether a variety of molecules, including biochemical markers, can be a tumour marker for prostate cancer in a number of studies or not. For that purpose, we have aimed to search the usability of Cystatin C to distinguish of these two clinical table. We showed that Cystatin C is stabile in BPH case while it increases at prostate cancer cases. It has been found that the level serum Cystatin C in the gathered samples is 1051±23 ng/ml in control group, 1023±22 ng/ml in BPH group, and 1146±38 ng/ml in prostate cancer group. Limit value of Cystatin C has been found as 1104 ng/ml at diagnosing prostate cancer. Moreover, while the serum PSA level of the samples in our study is found to be higher in the BPH (8,60±1,70 ng/ml) and prostate cancer cases (53,53±14,93 ng/ml) than the control group (1,92±0,35 ng/ml) (p<0,05), the PSA serum of the prostate cancer cases is found to be higher than the BPH group (p<0,05). While the level of fPSA serum is higher in the BPH (2,20±0,60 ng/ml) and prostate cancer cases (2,50±0,30 ng/ml) than the control group (0,50±0,10 ng/ml) (p<0,05), the serum fPSA of the prostate cancer cases is found to be higher than the BPH group (p<0,05). While the levels of fPSA/PSA are lower in prostate cancer cases (11,60±1,60) than the control group (31,60±4,10) (p<0,05), fPSA/PSA of the prostate cancer is found to be lower then the BPH groups (27,50±3,90) (p<0,05). More clinical studies are need to use Cystatin C for diagnosing and post- treatment. Keywords : Benign prostate hyperplasia, Prostate cancer, Cystatin C, Prostate specific antigen.
