Özet (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between supervisor roles, role conflict, role ambiguity, and self-disclosure in supervision as predictors of the quality of the supervisory relationship. To achieve this, the Supervisory Relationship Scale-Short Form and the Role Conflict and Role Ambiguity Inventory were first adapted into Turkish. The analyses indicated that the original structures of both instruments were preserved, confirming their validity and reliability. A stepwise regression analysis was conducted using data collected from senior undergraduate counseling trainees receiving supervision to investigate the predictive power of supervisor roles, role conflict, role ambiguity, and self-disclosure on the supervisory relationship. However, the self-disclosure variable was excluded from the regression analysis because it did not correlate significantly with the other variables, and the structure subscale of the supervisory relationship lacked adequate internal consistency. The findings revealed that the counselor role of the supervisor alone accounted for 77% of the variance in the safe base subscale of the supervisory relationship. Additionally, role conflict (negatively), adviser role, teacher role (negatively), and role ambiguity (negatively) emerged as significant predictors. For the reflective learning subdimension, the counselor role explained 71% of the variance, with the teacher role, adviser role, and role ambiguity (negatively) also serving as predictors. The results are discussed in light of the relevant literatüre and suggestions are presented. Keywords: Supervisory relationship, Supervisory roles, Role conflict, Role ambiguity, Self-disclosure in supervision
