Job satisfaction and burnout level correlation of psychological consultant & guidance counselor

Education is very comprehensive process with its aspects of guiding both individuals and society in many ways. Together with training , it targets the positive development of the student. One of the most important purposes of education is the mental & psychological development. In this perspective , psychological consultant & guidance counselor has been established as a supportive & constructive service to the educational sciences and it has been a vital part of the system since 1950's. In this thesis , the correlation between job satisfaction and burnout levels of psychological consultant & guidance counselor has been examined in detail. Variation significance of the job satisfaction & burnout score evaluations has been analyzed according to determined variables and correlation between these two issues has been studied to determine. According to the survey results , job satisfaction shows significant changes according to gender, marital status , satisfaction of their current residence, level of education , institutions, the trainings, seminars or conventions participated , the vacation times, desire of career changes , commuting and even smoking. On the other hand, burnout levels are affected by gender,duration of marriage, monthly income ,residential satisfaction ,level of educational , graduated department , institutions ,vacation times , training programs, seminars and conventions participated , desire of career changes and commuting. Research results helps us to prove highly positive relations between overall job satisfaction and wage satisfaction, benefits satisfaction, reward satisfaction and communication satisfaction . It also shows high positive relevance between emotional exhaustion & desensitization and overall burnout. Finally it also shows moderate positive & negative relations between job satisfaction subscales and burnout subscales.
