Abstract (EN)

This research was carried out to determine counselors' individual and group counseling practices and their perceptions of their efficiencies in these practices. Survey method was used in the research. Research population is consist of 711 counselors working in Eastern Anatolia (Elazığ and Malatya) and Central Anatolia (Karaman and Konya). As there was an attempt to reach all of population of the research, sample was not taken. Analyses were made on returning the data from 344 counselors. To collect data, a questionnaire was used developed by the researcher. In addition to 7 questions about personal information, There in the questionnaire are 9 open ended, 22 closed ended, totally 38 questions to determine the perceptions of counselors' individual and group psychological counseling competence. The data were obtained by the virtual route as well as face to face. SPSS 17 was used for quantitative analysis of the data obtained and NVivo 8 software package was used for the analysis of qualitative data obtained. For the quantitative analysis, the frequency (f), percentage (%), chi-square (X2) test were use and for the qualitative analysis content analysis was used.According to the findings of research, majority of school counselors do individual psychological counseling; the majority of counselors do not do group psychological counseling. Counselors doing individual and group psychological counseling see themselves sufficient on both individual and psychological counseling. Counselors do both individual and group counseling most for individuals during adolescence. Counselors in individual counseling apply respectively books-journals, the internet and more experienced colleagues in the profession as information sources but in group psychological counseling Counselors apply respectively internet, book-journals and more experienced colleagues in the profession. Counselors prefer approaches respectively humanistic, cognitive and behavioral approaches in counseling practices. Various suggestions were made on the basis of research findings.
