Abstract (EN)

PURPOSE: To compare the pseudophakic group to phakic control group wing powerrefractor II device which measure accommodation objectively.METHOD: Thirty patients who had cataract in one eye and normal fellow eye with a visual acuity of 1,0 were included in the study. All eyes undergoing cataract surgery had a visual acuity of 1,0 after phacoemulsification and Sensar AR 40eTM IOL implantation. Detailed refraction, anterior segment and fundus examination were performed postoperatively at 1. day, 1. week, 1, 3, 6. months biometry and accommodation measurements were performed at 6. month. Statistical analysis was performed by student t test and Pearson correlation test.RESULTS: The mean age of patients was 54,13±6,46 years (37-61 year). Pseudoaccommodation was found 1,17±0,56 D in pseudophakic eye group and accommodation was found 1,50±0,61 D in control eye group. Accommodation power was found statistically higher in control eyes group when compared to pseudoaccommodation in pseudophakic eye group (p=0,003).CONCLUSİON: We detected a small amount of accommodation in pseudophakic eyes even though it is statistically lower when compared to control group. We think that more studies are necessery to evaluate pseudophakic accommodation in pseudophakic eyes using different measurement techniques.
