Abstract (EN)
Between 01.11.2021-01.11.2022, 250 psoriasis patients between the ages of 18-65 and age and gender matched, 145 healthy volunteers were included in this study. A sociodemographic data form was prepared and demographic data such as age, gender, height, body weight, marital status were recorded. Information such as the clinical subtype of psoriasis, age of onset, duration of the disease, family history, the treatments used, history of chronic diseases were recorded. Exercise habits were evaluated by International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) questions. Based on the definitions in the WHO's dietary guidelines, the patients' fat, vegetable-fruit, red meat and salt consumption were questioned in the evaluation of their eating habits. Dietary characteristics, information about the intake of foods classified according to the glycemic index were recorded. Sleep quality was evaluated by Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and quality of life by Dermatology Quality of Life Index (DYKI). Decreased physical activity was detected in psoriasis patients compared to the control group. Low vegetable and fruit consumption and high salt consumption habits were observed in psoriasis patients compared to the control group. It was observed that psoriasis started earlier in patients with high meat consumption and low vegetable fruit consumption. A positive correlation was detected between severity of psoriasis and white bread, white rice, white sugar and nuts consumption. The PSQI score was found to be higher in psoriasis patients compared to the control group. A statistically significant relationship was found between psoriasis duration and psoriasis onset and PSQI. Decreased physical activity and related increase in obesity, poor eating habits and sleep disorders are frequently observed in psoriasis patients. It has been shown that regulating lifestyle and eating habits in psoriasis patients can be effective in controlling the disease and reducing the severity of the disease. More studies are needed to determine the effects of physical activity, eating habits, and sleep disorders on psoriasis.
