Effects of HİGH protein ketogenic DİET and exercise in experimentally created epilepsy model with PZT

Abstract (EN)

In this project, the effect of ketogenic diet and exercise on epilepsy created using the PTZ model on epilepsy seizure behaviors, ions, oxidative stress parameters is determined. In our study, 6 groups were formed as Group ES (epilepsy+standard feed), Group EK (epilepsy+ketogenic feed), Group EES (epilepsy+exercise+standard feed), Group EEK (epilepsy+exercise+ketogenic diet), Group EDS (epilepsy+disease+standard feed), Group EDK (epilepsy+ diazem+ketogenic feed) 6 groups in the form created. A total of 42 rats, 7 in each group, were used. 21 rats in ketogenic diet groups were fed ketogenic diet for 6 weeks. 14 rats in the exercise groups were given short-term treadmill exercise for 6 weeks. At the end of 6 weeks, the animals were given 50mg/kg PTZ and behavioral scoring was performed. Blood samples from animals were taken and oxidative stress parameters and seum ion changes were analyzed. Results Significant differences were detected on seizure behaviors, TAS, TOS, OSI, and K+ ion of ketogenic diet and exercise application on epileptiform activity induced by PTZ. However, there was no statistically significant difference between the groups on TTL, NTL, Disulfite, Mg+2, Ca+2, Na+, Cl- serum ion values (p>0.05). As a result, this study which is investigating combination of ketogenic diet and exercise application on epilepsy has the quality of making positive contributions to the seizure threshold of epilepsy patients.
