Abstract (EN)

Health workers, main element of health services, are the key for the success in organizational success and are also valuable members of the service sector. In today's changing and developing conditions, employee productivity has come to the fore even more for sustainable organizational success. New management approaches that enrich the managerial behaviors of the managers and contribute to the work motivation and performance of the employees are needed. At this point, Pygmalion perception emerges as a new management instrument by which a person is able to deliver higher performance motivated by positive expectations about his/her own performance or abilities. This study aims to reveal the Pygmalion perception which is asserted to contribute to employee motivation and performance in the health sector, and the effects of this perception on employees' self-efficacy and individual creativity, and to determine the mediating role of the variables in this perception. Within the framework of these purposes, data have been collected through a questionnaire including demographic variables, Pygmalion Attitude Index, Self-Efficacy Scale and Individual Creativity Scale with the participation of 385 health workers working in a public institution providing health services. According to the results of the research, Pygmalion perception affects the individual creativity of employees (β=0.157; t=2.537; p<0.05) in a positive way, and self-efficacy has a positive and significant effect on individual creativity (β=0.553; t=7.197; p<0.05) and individual creativity has been found to have a mediating role on the effect of Pygmalion perception on self-efficacy (β=0.087; 95% CI [0.20, 0.159]). As a result of the results obtained, some suggestions have been made accordingly.
