Folklore elements in radio plays

Radio, which became one of the most popular and effective communication channels of the 20th century as a result of the rapid development, witnessed both the First World War and the Cold War Period. The radio, which witnessed both world wars, became one of the most active and effective communication tools of the period, accompanying the creative world of people with its dynamic structure and program content, and offering many advantages to its listeners. This development, which influenced the masses, brought many innovations with it. Radio, which has a history more than a century, has assumed different roles in the historical process depending on the periods. The development of radio and the beginning of broadcasting in Turkey date back to 6 May 1927. Radio broadcasts were used to institutionalize the new Turkish state and raise public awareness about reforms and practices. Despite the changes in its legal status, the radio served as one of the most important institutions of the republic. Radio has made its role functional by making news broadcasts and entertaining broadcasts to adapt to the changing order. Radio has an important place in cultural interaction and as a result of understanding its value, it has played an important role in the promotion of cultural activities through interaction with branches of art. Apart from a single agreed upon nomenclature for the radio play, different names have been used in different sources. Radio play, radio theater, microphone theater, radiophonic play, radio performance are the most frequently used ones. We can see the radio play program "Arkası Yarın" known as TRT's radio program as a general nomenclature that TRT and the public use most when defining this genre. Although the different names used for the games played on the radio are various, the most common usage has been on the concepts of radiotheater and radio plays. Radio broadcasting in Turkey has also made important contributions to folk theater traditions. In the study, based on the analysis of the play texts published in the radio theater and the analyzed plays, folk scientific elements such as myth, fairy tale, proverb, folk tale, folk theater, beliefs, parades will be determined and analyzed.
