Estimation of environmental factors effecting prewaning growth traits and adjustment coefficients in ramlic lambs

This research were conducted to determine the effects of different environmental factors on growth traits of Ramlic lambs and to estimate the adjustment coefficients for these traits. The material of study were consisted of 1495 Ramlic lambs maintained at five different farm operation in Eskisehir province between 2012 and 2014. Analysis of variance showed that the effects of farm, birth year and season, sex, birth type, rearing type, dam age and weaning age have significant (P<0,05) effects on growth. Only effects of birth month on live weight at 90-Days were not significant. Least squares means for birth weight, weight at 90-Days and weaning weight were 4,1853±0,0331; 22,444±0,233 and 27,761±0,301 kg respectively. Winter born lambs were superior than the others. Lambs born from older dams were less developed. Due to variation resulted from different factors were higher and significant, correction coefficients were estimated. As a result, it was concluded that significant environmental factors must be considered in a selection program and correction factors found in the study could be used in adjustment for these effects.
